Travel from Roxas City to Bacolod City via ro-ro

We travel from roxas city capiz to Bacolod City with my family via ro-ro is so interesting and I plan to do it again and this time around Negros Occidental and Oriental, for there is so many interesting places you can find.

We started our travel from Roxas City Capiz and we travel to the town of Dumangas in Iloilo to ride in the ro-ro boat going to Bacolod, the travel from Roxas City is about 1hour and a half to Dumangas port, and 2 hours boat travel going to Bacolod. During our boat travel going to Bacolod, I found an old man about 76 years old traveling alone back to his family in Victorias, Bacolod. He entertained me with his stories living in victorias and working at Victorias milling corp. he told me that he travel always going to Iloilo and even Manila via ro-ro or the nautical high ways of the Philippines, and he likes it.
From port of Bacolod, we stop over for lunch at SM city of Bacolod for its very near to the port, before going to Mambukal Resort at the town of Murcia. We travel again for 1 hour going to Mambukal Resort, we pass by Bacolod city and the town of Murcia, it’s the mountain side of Bacolod City for mambukal resort is known for its hot spring and 7 layer falls for it is near Mt. Kanlaon volcano. We made our first night at Mambukal Resort, we enjoy spa and dip in the hot spring and of course, the food. The stay at Mambukal Resort is cheap for it is own by the government. My sisters check-in at their hotel for over- night stay but for me, I camped at their camp site to enjoy with nature. in the morning, we did the early activity like going to the 7 layer falls but our guide spot for the reason of bad weather, we just reach the 2nd layer falls. After the trekking, we dip on to the hot spring for 3 hours and during the dipping, we watch the bats flying around just above the dipping pool. Thousands of bats flying around the area of the resort. The sad story is that while we are trekking going to the falls, we meet 3 kid who are living on the top of the mountain where the falls are located. They offer us a help while we trek or guide us on our way to the falls, of course for some tips or food for their family. In good fate, one of my sister adopted them as her personal guide to the falls, and on the way back my sister decided to bring them for lunch, but for my surprise, the guard near the entrance of the resort did not allow them to enter the area for the reason that they are not allowed, so I wonder why, they are Filipino, and the area is a government area, but soon I’ll be back on that area and ill promise to clarify that guard. Those are Filipino kids who are discriminated on their own land.

After all the activity and picture taking at Mambukal Rersort, with sad stories with the kids, we travel back to Bacolod city to go around the city and to stay overnight at the night life area of Bacolod city, the golden fields as they call it, we  stayed at Casino Filipino Hotel where all the bars and discos are near.

New day comes, one of my sister suggested to go to the famous Ruins of Bacolod, it is the mansion of Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson of 1900’s where at the eve of the WWII of 1942, it was being burned down by the guerillas for the reason that it will not be used by the Japanese soldiers. The Ruins of the mansion now is being used for educational studies and trips for the students, and also one of the famous reception area for gatherings, like weddings, etc.

After we enjoy the coffee at Ruins coffee shop, we decided to go to the “Balay Negrense” it is also an old mansion of Negros at the town of Talisay. But along the way we accidentally passed by the house of Tana, also an old mansion of Negros, for we thought that it is the “balay negrense" that we are looking for, but its not, but since we are there, we decided to come in and know the story of the house. After exploring and enjoying the story of Tana, we go ahead to the “Balay Negrense” and again we enjoy the story of passed of Negros and the family who live there during their life time.

Well, thats the end of our journey to Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, we travel again at the same route we have on the way back home.
